How long are your sessions?

Sessions last 30 minutes.

How frequently would my child need to work with you to make good progress?

Your child will make the best progress with two to three sessions a week.

How will you know what things to focus on in my child's sessions?

I will give your child an assessment prior to beginning tutoring sessions.

How will you know if my child is making progress?

The program I use will automatically show when to move to the next level of instruction as your child improves in his/her ability in decoding words, comprehension, and fluency. Improved phonemic knowledge along with repeated practice will allow your child to move to each ascending skill level.

What experience do you have working with children?

I have taught kindergarten in the public schools, homeschooled two of my own children, and served as a substitute teacher for a number of short term teacher absences (typically 6-8 weeks for a maternity leave) in various grade levels. In addition, I have done many individual days of substitute teaching in my local school system.

What would my child need to work with you online?

I will be using Zoom Pro to connect with your child for our online tutoring sessions. Your child will need an internet connection, a computer, and a graphics tablet (like this $40 Wacom tablet on Amazon).

How does your billing work?

You will receive a monthly invoice for sessions scheduled for the upcoming month, which is due before the first session.

Payment can be sent through Zelle.

What are your professional qualifications?

I have a Masters Degree in Reading Education; specifically, in addition to Early Childhood certification, I am a certified reading specialist.
